It’s really, truly just about football for Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

Earlier this year, we learned that Manchester City boss had banned pizza and heavy foods from his charges amongst other things.

It’s hard to believe in an age of technologically advanced people, not to mention some entitled young and rich players, but Guardiola has deprived his players of the internet around training and games.

From TalkSport:

Speaking to Argentinian sports TV channel TyC Sports, Zabaleta said: “He forces us to have breakfast and lunch together at the club.

“The internet is cut off, we are held incommunicado. We don’t even use 3G.”

That’s extreme sounding, until you consider the restrictions at your particular job. Celebrities! They’re just like us!

We do wonder whether there’s a smart aleck in the bunch who, when Guardiola has to go to the Internet for some sort of tactical backup during an information session, blurts out “ah-ah-ah!”.

As for Zabaleta, the 31-year-old is on Argentina duty this week. La Albiceleste playing a pair of World Cup qualifiers at Peru and home to Paraguay. Through eight matches, Argentina is one point back of top-ranked Uruguay.
