Pep Guardiola‘s sides aren’t used to being held from victories, so they made certain on Saturday that they took home all three points.
Manchester City captured a convincing 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion, snapping a six-game winless streak across all competitions.
Ilkay Gundogan, one of the game’s scorers, felt it was important for the Citizens to get a big contribution from striker Sergio Aguero.
“He’s a player who needs confidence for his game,” Gundogan told the club’s official website. “You could see it in the last few training sessions that he has got it back and he did it very well today.
“He ran a lot, worked very hard and he’s very important for us.”
Aguero, who now has seven PL goals on the season, was held without a finish in the previous six matches, so the Argentine’s production was certainly useful at the Hawthorns.
In addition to Aguero’s two-goal performance on Saturday, Gundogan notched a brace of his own. The effort was certainly a boost for the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder, who is beginning to find more time on the pitch after starting the season on the bench due to injury.Follow @MattReedFutbol
