Having lost their previous five encounters with Barca in the UCL, including a 4-0 drubbing the Nou Camp two weeks ago, City has reached a pivotal stage in their hopes of qualifying for the knockout rounds with Borussia Monchengladbach hosting Celtic on Tuesday and breathing down their necks.
Elsewhere Arsenal can seal qualification to the UCL knockout stages for the 17th straight season if they beat Ludogorets away from home and Paris Saint-Germain don’t lose against Basel in Group A. In Group D both Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich can seal through passage into the Round of 16 with two games to go if they beat Rostov and PSV respectively, while in Group B Napoli would be in a very strong position if they win away at Besiktas.
