A quick, interesting bite regarding Henrikh Mkhitaryan‘s obviously poor relationship with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho.

Mkhitaryan, 27, came to United in a $30 million-plus deal from Borussia Dortmund this offseason, on the heels of a season that saw him named the Bundesliga Players’ Player of the Season.

Yeah, he’s real good, and he’s also represented by super agent Mino Raiola, who brought Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Manchester this season.

The Armenian has battled injuries and now his manager’s perception in failing to see much playing time. Mkhitaryan played 29 minutes off the bench for United in a 2-1 loss at Fenerbahce, his first game time since Sept. 10.

So, what’s a guy gotta do, Mou? From SkySports:

“He has to do more, it’s as simple as that,” said Mourinho.

“We have big expectations at this club, lots of players for these positions, and he has to play better than [Juan] Mata, [Jesse] Lingard, [Anthony] Martial – he has to play better than them. It’s as simple as that.”

We get that, but it’s also hard to believe he doesn’t offer more than what United has seen from Lingard and Martial this season. Mata, sure, but Mkhitaryan had 11 goals and 20 assists in the Bundesliga alone last season, adding 12 goals and 12 helpers in other tournaments.

Then again, perhaps Mkhitaryan is carrying the burden for Mata now and this explains why Mourinho has unshackled the Spaniard. Who knows what goes on in Mou’s mind?
