If there’s anything Manchester United fans can feel good about following a 2-1 loss at Fenerbahce on Thursday, it’s a great goal from their maligned captain.

Wayne Rooney scored his first goal since Opening Day against Bournemouth, belting a shot from distance past marvelous Fener goalkeeper

United trailed 2-0 at the time, allowing goals on Fener’s first two shots of the match including a Moussa Sow bicycle kick within the first 75 seconds of play.

The tally was Rooney’s 38th for United in European competition, putting him level with Ruud van Nistelrooy for most all-time amongst Red Devils.
