  • PL shutout streak at 500 mins

Eden Hazard‘s brace was the highlight of a comprehensive Chelsea rout of Everton at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, as supporters sang, “An-to-ni-o” deep into the match

Marcos Alonso, Diego Costa, and Pedro also scored for the Blues in a 5-0 win, and the clean sheet made it 500 minutes of Premier League football without a goal conceded by Antonio Conte‘s men.

Chelsea is atop the Premier League for at least a day, rising above Manchester City. The Blues lead City by one and both Arsenal and Liverpool by two points, with the latter two playing Sunday.

Everton fails in its bid to press the Top Five, and could be as low as eighth come Sunday afternoon.

Costa was bleeding through his sock after eight minutes thanks to a loose cleat from Seamus Coleman, one which went uncarded.

Hazard broke through in the 19th minute for his sixth goal of the season, on a play rife with controversy as Pedro appeared to be offside as Hazard’s rip passed by him and Stekelenburg.

Alonso made no doubt about the second goal, as stunned Everton left the back open for the ex-Fiorentina man to nutmeg Stekelenburg.

Victor Moses hit the post in the 34th minute. Chelsea was controlling the game with movement and possession.

The third came off a back post header from Costa, who nabbed his ninth PL goal of the season off a Nemanja Matic-flicked corner.

Hazard’s second of the night came when Pedro back heeled to the Belgian, who danced past Ashley Williams for a near-post goal.

Pedro then made it 5-0 when Costa laid off for Hazard, whose hat trick attempt rebounded to a wide-open Pedro to pass into the yawning cage.
