According to multiple reports across the media, Memphis has finally run out of patience after being on the bench for almost 12 months at United under both Louis Van Gaal and now Jose Mourinho following his $30 million arrival from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2015.

The Dutch winger, 22, has started just one game this season (in the EFL Cup at Northampton Town) and he is one of a host of fringe players struggling to make any impact for the currently struggling Red Devils. It is believed Memphis could move to Turkish side Fenerbache on a loan deal in January to link up with Dutch coach Dick Advocaat.

The Daily Mail also claims that Morgan Schneiderlin, Marcos Rojo, Matteo Darmian and Bastian Schweinsteiger are all set to leave Old Trafford before the end of the season too, with Mourinho getting tough to shake things up and cut the deadwood from previous regimes.

It is clear Mourinho will try do something drastic to shake things up in January as he aims to spark life into his entire squad.

United lost 2-1 at Fenerbache in the Europa League in midweek with a very strong lineup (Memphis couldn’t even get in the 21-man squad) and Mourinho’s side have won just once in their last seven Premier League games, failing to score in any of their last three outings.

With Mourinho banned from the touchline for United’s game at Swansea this weekend (Watch live, 10 a.m. ET on CNBC and online via NBCSports.com) it will be intriguing to see how his team responds as their form spirals downwards and their manager continues to be involved in controversy and is clearly ready to cast many of his squad aside.
