According to the Sun, Manchester United is prepared to give Ozil a hefty increase in salary next summer, something that the Gunners and the attacker have been very far apart on in negotiations over a new contract.

The Gunners are currently paying the 28-year-old over $176,000 on a weekly basis, however, United is prepared to offer a whopping $315,000/week (increase of $139,000) in order to poach the talented attacking player.

Mourinho and Ozil have a history together, dating back to their time together at Real Madrid, and that relationship coupled with United’s pay raise could very well lure the German away from the Emirates Stadium if the club doesn’t up its offer.

Ozil is enjoying a fantastic season with the Gunners, netting seven goals in 13 matches across all competitions for Arsene Wenger‘s club.
