The Sun is reporting that the Portuguese manager is prepared to keep Rooney at Old Trafford after impressing over recent weeks for the Red Devils.

Since returning to the starting XI in three of the team’s last four matches, Rooney has registered a goal and three assists for United, which includes a pair of helpers in the club’s most recent 3-1 victory over Swansea City.

The 31-year-old had been rumored with moves to MLS, China and possibly even a return to Everton, but the English veteran appears to be safe for the time being given Mourinho’s reconsideration.

Rooney was involved in the Three Lions’ UEFA World Cup qualifying win over Scotland on Friday, with the attacker playing the full 90 minutes for Gareth Southgate‘s side.
