JOHANNESBURG (AP) South Africa coach Shakes Mashaba has been suspended and faces a disciplinary hearing after a television camera caught him ranting at his critics following a World Cup qualifier.

Mashaba had to be calmed by a reporter and a South African Football Association official just before he was due to give a post-match TV interview for the national broadcaster.

Following South Africa’s surprise 2-1 win over Senegal on Saturday, an angry Mashaba said in apparent reference to the media: “These people have already buried me, you know that. These people have already buried me … and you want me to talk to the media?”

SAFA says it suspended Mashaba for a “regrettable incident” at the stadium but didn’t specify if it was for the pre-interview comments.
