Bayer Leverkusen 2-3 RB Leipzig

This one happened Friday, but carried excitement and Top Four ramifications. Ex-BVB man Kevin Kampl scored in the first minute for Bayer, but an own goal had it level by the fifth minute.

Julian Brandt gave Bayer another lead in first half stoppage, but it would be another advantage tossed away. New boys RB Leipzig picked up goals from Swedish hero Emil Forsberg and German center back Willi Orban to go atop the Bundesliga before Bayern Munich took the pitch.

Borussia Dortmund – Bayern Munich

Bayern possessed the ball in the first half and took more shots, but Dortmund was patient in its approach and put four of its five shots on goal in the frame. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave them the lead with his 11th minute strike, on an assist from ex-Bayern man Mario Gotze.

Carlo Ancelotti brought on Douglas Costa in the 58th minute and Rafinha 9 minutes later in a bid to shake up Bayern’s attack.

USMNT star Christian Pulisic started on the bench for Dortmund, subbing into the match in the 87th minute.

Mainz 4-2 Freiburg

Yuniz Malli scored in the 20th minute to give the hosts a 2-0 lead, and Freiburg’s battle got them to within 2-1 and 3-2 by the time Nils Peterson netted in the 85th minute. But big Austrian forward Karim Onisiwo found the target in the fifth minute of stoppage to ice the three points for Mainz.
