Harry Kane‘s contract talks have apparently stalled at Tottenham Hotspur.
That sound you can hear is the hearts of Tottenham’s fans shattering into pieces.
Kane, 23, is reportedly wanting a new deal worth over $125,000 per week but talks between his representatives and Spurs are at an impasse. According to the Daily Mirror that has alerted Manchester United with the Red Devils long-term admirers of Kane.
Kane is contracted at Spurs until 2020 and he has decided to call of talks until the end of the season with the two parties far apart in their estimations.
Kane was the top scorer in the Premier League last season with 25 goals and he’s been Spurs’ top scorer in each of the last two seasons.
But why United?
Well, their financial power is unquestioned so even if a transfer fee of over $80 million was agreed, that would probably be about right. Also, Zlatan Ibrahimovic‘s current contract runs out at the end of this season so United could only have Marcus Rashford as an out-and-out striker by the end of this season. That said, Spurs seem more likely to challenge for the title than United at this rate so some may see it just a financial move for Kane. He doesn’t seem that way inclined.
It seems like a stretch for Kane to leave Spurs but if the academy graduate and local lad isn’t the top earner at the club (Christian Eriksen is believed to be) then it’s easy to see why he’d look elsewhere.
