According to the Mirror, Manchester City is preparing a $246 million package to lure Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi to the Etihad Stadium in the summer of 2017.

The deal would include roughly $123 million being sent directly to the Blaugrana to cover the world-record record transfer fee, while Messi is said to be handed $617,150 to finance his weekly wages.

While Messi has always reaffirmed his desire to stay with Barcelona, City manager Pep Guardiola has been adamant about reuniting with the Argentine striker in the Premier League.

The door could be open for a move away from the Camp Nou though, as Messi is yet to sign a new contract. The 29-year-old is currently tied to Barcelona until the summer of 2018, so the club could consider cashing in on their star in order to prevent losing him completely for nothing when his deal runs out.
