The Derby della Madonnia had plenty of twists and turns, but it was Ivan Perisic that had the final say for Inter Milan as they mounted their comeback in second-half stoppage time.
Fiorentina and Atalanta were among Sunday’s big winners in Serie A, while Lazio and Torino each earned three points on the day.
AC Milan 2-2 Inter Milan
Ivan Perisic rescued Inter in the dying moments to help secure a point against rival AC Milan. Suso’s brace nearly ensured all three points would head with AC Milan, but Perisic’s 92nd minute equalizer spoiled those plans. After trailing coming out of halftime, Antonio Candreva leveled the match at 1-1 in the 53rd minute, before Suso put AC Milan back in front five minutes later. The draw sees AC Milan remain third on the table, while Inter moves into 10th position.
Atalanta 2-1 Roma
Frank Kessie’s late penalty kick helped guide Atalanta past Roma on Sunday to move up to fifth place in Serie A. The hosts trailed heading into the second stanza as Diego Perotti’s penalty conversion put Roma ahead in the 40th minute. Mattia Caldara leveled the match for Atalanta after the hour mark, before Kessie helped the hosts secure their fifth consecutive league victory.
Empoli 0-4 Fiorentina
Fiorentina picked up a convincing three points on the road behind goals from Federico Bernardeschi and Josip Ilicic. The former kicked off the rout for the Viola after 26 minutes when Bernardeschi finished a Nikola Kalinic rebound. Ilicic finished the first of his two goals just two minutes into the second half after capitalizing from the penalty spot. The victory moves Fiorentina up to eighth in Italy’s top flight with 20 points, however, the club currently holds a game in hand.

Lazio 3-1 Genoa
While most of La Liga’s elite had already been in action for the weekend, Athletic Bilbao picked up an important victory against Villareal.
Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Villareal
Raul Garcia’s second-half finish helped Bilbao close the gap on Villareal in the top four. Bilbao moves to within two points of Villareal in the table following the victory and trails league leaders Real Madrid by 10 points.
Valencia 1-1 Granada
While Granada continues its search for its first win of the 2016/17 season, Valencia required a second-half finish from Nani to take a share of the points on Sunday. The former Manchester United attacker equalized two minutes after halftime, while Granada had taken the lead just moments before the locker room break through Mehdi Carcela-González.
Alaves 0-1 Espanyol
Sporting Gijon 1-3 Real Sociedad
