The Reds could well be ahead, but haven’t finished and now have lost star attacker Philippe Coutinho to a scary injury. The Brazilian was stretchered off with his foot in a brace.

Hull City 0-1 West Bromwich Albion

A set piece undid Hull City, who was under siege all morning. Gareth McAuley lost his mark and bounced a header through traffic for the opener.

Leicester City 1-1 Middlesbrough

Alvaro Negredo put the visitors on the board within a quarter hour at King Power Stadium. Gaston Ramirez on the assist. Riyad Mahrez converted yet another penalty to level things for the struggling (in the Premier League) Foxes.

Swansea City 1-1 Crystal Palace

But if anyone’s been humming for Swans, it’s Icelandic star Gylfi Sigurdsson. The 27-year-old belted in a free kick after Wilfried Zaha had lifted Palace to an early lead.
