VIDEO: Arsenal’s Gabriel sends emotional message to Chapecoense victims

Arsenal’s Gabriel has sent a heartbreaking message to the victims of the plane crash in Colombia late on Monday which killed 71 of the 77 passengers on board a charter flight that was carrying players, coaches and directors of Brazilian Serie A side Chapecoense, plus many journalists.

Gabriel, 26, played for Caio Junior, the head coach of Chapecoense, and his backroom staff during his time at Vitoria in Brazil.

He was also good friends with two of the players who died in the crash and the Arsenal center back broke down in tears as he discussed the tragedy which has Brazil in three days of mourning, plus people all over the world in shock as they pay their respects to the team who had captured the imaginations of a continent ahead of the Copa Sudamericana final first leg against Atletico Nacional in Colombia.

Below is the video posted by Arsenal, as Gabriel also held a banner stating “#ForçaChape” during a minute silence held ahead of Arsenal’s EFL Cup defeat to Southampton on Wednesday at the Emirates Stadium.
