  • Adam converts penalty
  • Walcott, Ozil lead comeback
  • Iwobi finishes it off
  • Arsenal looked anything but troubled by an early PK, as the Gunners trounced Stoke City 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Theo Walcott scored his 100th goal as a Gunner, then Mesut Ozil and Alex Iwobi netted to deliver the three points that moved Arsenal level with first place Chelsea for at least 21 hours.

Charlie Adam converted a Joe Allen-won penalty for Stoke, which sits 10th.

Granit Xhaka conceded a PK when his elbow caught Joe Allen, causing a bit of bloody mess inside the 18. Lee Mason pointed to the spot, and Adam converted despite a lengthy wait.

Moments after Marko Arnautovic nearly made it 2-0 in the face of Arsenal dominance, the Gunners got a rightful equalizer. Walcott used to outside of his boot for classy conversion of a Hector Bellerin cross, beating Lee Grant to the near post.

The Gunners went ahead after the break, and it was easy pickings for Ozil thanks to his lightning quick run through the Stoke defense. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain sent a ball over the back line, and Ozil nodded it over a stupified Lee Grant. 2-1.

Mason deserves credit for a terrific advantage call on Arsenal’s third. Iwobi played to Sanchez with a nutmeg pass, and the Chilean was hacked down. But Mason saw Iwobi darting onto the path of the ball, waved his arms forward, and the Nigerian belted his shot past Grant for 3-1.
