Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho heaped praise on center back Phil Jones as the Red Devils prepared for Wednesday’s visit from Crystal Palace.
United is unbeaten in eight matches, and hasn’t allowed multiple goals in a single match since Nov. 3’s 2-1 loss at Fenerbahce.

“Now he looks fresh, and strong, and fast and agile. He has played six matches and I don’t remember the last time he did that. Marcos also had lots of problems and injuries, but he looks also free of it.
“In a period without Bailly and Smalling, where people could be scared, they step up and both played so many matches already without defeat. I am really happy for them.”
After Palace, it’ll be West Brom, Middlesbrough, and Sunderland, giving Mourinho a chance to continue buttressing his defensive form. Palace presents the stiffest challenge, netting 27 goals in PL play (fifth-best).
