Another day, another Schalke disappointment, and another Weston McKennie goal.
Schalke hasn’t been able to find many goals in 2020 and when it has, the goals have often come from USMNT midfielder McKennie.
McKennie scored his third of the season on Wednesday but David Wagner’s men are now winless in 14-straight Bundesliga outings following a 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt at Commerzbank-Arena.

Andre Silva and David Abraham scored for Eintracht, with assists to Filip Kostic and in-form Daichi Kamada. Eintracht moves to 41 points which keeps them alive but with extremely long odds in the race for a top seven spot.
Schalke is 10th and can no longer qualify for European competition next season.
McKennie scored his third goal of the season in the loss, all of them coming in his last seven appearances.
The third was a back post leap to head the across the goal in the 59th minute of Wednesday’s match.

Schalke have 10 goals in 2020 and have only scored multiple goals once. That was the first match of the calendar year, a 2-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach.
McKennie is the only Schalke player with multiple league goals (3) in 2020, and leads the team in scoring across all competitions (Daniel Caligiuri has one league goal and one cup goal).
That’s a feather in the cap of the 21-year-old Texan that also highlights the moribund nature of Schalke’s attack, as the Gelsenkirchen set has slipped from sixth to 10th in the table.
Here’s the Weston McKennie goal.
