The League Cup’s semifinal round takes center stage on Wednesday, but a COVID-19 outbreak at Anfield means it’ll be a bit longer until we see one of the first legs.
Thomas Tuchel and Antonio Conte match wits in the latest high-profile meeting between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in Wednesday’s semifinal first leg, but Liverpool’s COVID-19 concerns have grown and the Reds will not visit Arsenal on Thursday after the English Football League agreed to a postponement.

The first leg now switches venues to Anfield on Jan. 13, with the second leg coming a week later at Arsenal. That means that if the game needs extra time and/or penalty kicks it will come at the Emirates Stadium.
As for Wednesday’s action, Conte did not win the League Cup when he was at the Chelsea wheel and he certainly won’t mind the idea of eliminating his former club from the competition as he looks to create a new hierarchy in London.
Mikel Arteta has won the FA Cup twice as a player and once as Arsenal boss and will be looking for his first League Cup as the Gunners continue to cement their status back in the Premier League’s top-four discussion.
