Wednesday’s transfer rumor roundup: Arsenal seeks Nigerian U-17s, Pogba to Real Madrid

While Jordan Morris susses out his professional future in Germany and Nemanja Vidic weighs his post-Inter options, the rumor mill continues to pour gasoline on its fire.

AS has a couple of sensational reports. Updating Tuesday’s rumor of Nolito moving from Celta Vigo to Arsenal, the Spanish outlet says Barcelona is going to take the 29-year-old to Camp Nou before the Gunners can pick him up.

And there’s no doubt Florentino Perez is itching to spend more money in the wake of firing Rafa Benitez. Who will be Zinedine Zidane’s first Galactico? Real’s new boss thinks Paul Pogba is the man to fit the bill, according to this AS report.

Arsenal may be adding a pair of U-17 World Cup winning prospects in Nigeria’s Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze, according to Sky Sources. The report does note that Nwakali’s brother Chidiebere is a member of Manchester City, though on loan with Girona in Spain’s second tier.

Sunderland won’t be outdone by Newcastle’s recent moves for Jonjo Shelvey and Henri Saivet. The Black Cats have already brought Bayern Munich center back Jan Kirchhoff to the Stadium of Light, and may dodge discipline and bolster their back line by snagging Lorient back Lamine Kone after all. Also, Dame N'Doye could return to the Premier League. He spent last season at Hull City but transferred to Trabzonspor after the Tigers were relegated to the Championship.

West Ham’s Andy Carroll could miss 4-6 weeks if initial reports are true, and that leaves the Irons’ search for striker depth growing in need. Slaven Bilic‘s side are within striking distance of the Top Four, and have been linked with Leicester’s Andrej Kramaric, Juventus’ Simone Zaza and — of course — QPR’s Charlie Austin. In the case of the final name, could a cross-London move be the solution to one of the rumor mill’s longest running questions?

The arrival of Jonjo Shelvey on Tyneside means Cheick Tiote could be leaving Newcastle United for a $10 million more to Shanghai Shenhua.

Also, Sky is reporting that Jermaine Pennant — remember him — has touched down in Singapore and is set to become the highest paid player in the nation’s history when he joins Tampines Rovers.
