Watford has played Liverpool 17 times in league play. This is the first where they are in a higher position.

The two clubs both sit in the top half of the table, just a point apart as they clash at Vicarage Road at 8:30 a.m. ET live on NBCSN or live online at NBC Sports Live Extra.

The big news from the Reds is that goalkeeper Simon Mignolet misses out with a hamstring injury, replaced between the sticks by Adam Bogdan. Mignolet had come under fire in recent weeks for poor play and questionable decisions, but had received a vote of confidence from manager Jurgen Klopp, who said he specifically told Mignolet he needs to come out and challenge in the box more. The injury not only brings in Bogdan, but it brings 19-year-old Ryan Fulton onto the bench as the backup.

With Daniel Sturridge still injured, Roberto Firmino gets the start up top for the Reds, with Christian Benteke on the bench alongside Divock Origi. Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana both support Firmino, with Jordan Ibe as a bench option. James Milner is out with a calf problem, and Dejan Lovren cannot go after his gruesome injury last week against West Brom. In his place at the back comes Mamadou Sakho.

For Watford, who sit in seventh place in the Premier League table on 25 points and come into this match riding a three-game winning streak, they are unchanged from last week’s win over Sunderland. Valon Behrami returns from a calf injury to make the bench, having missed out since Halloween. Sebastian Prodl is still sidelined with his calf injury, while Rene Gilmartin and Tommie Hoban are both out with their long-term injury problems.

Watford is looking for its first four-match winning streak in the top flight since 1987. Oddly enough, if all league games ended at halftime this season, they would be top of the Premier League table.
