Let’s take a look at the latest transfer news from around the Premier League.

Thomas Partey to Arsenal back on the table?

The Daily Mirror state that progress is being made in talks over Thomas Partey to Arsenal, as Atletico Madrid want to sign Lucas Torreira from Arsenal. A report from Mundo Deportivo claim that Torreira has his heart set on a move to Atletico, as he was previously linked with a move to Fiorentina or Torino.

Partey, 27, is said to have a $58 million release clause and his contract runs until the summer of 2023 but Arsenal are said to want to pay a lot less than that for the Ghanian midfielder. Mikel Arteta has added extra grit to this talented Arsenal squad but Partey would add an extra layer of solidity in front of Gabriel who has made a big difference at center back.

But do Arsenal need a holding midfielder? Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka have held down those two positions well, while Mohamed Elneny has also worked his way into the rotation. Mateo Guendouzi and Torreira are both going to leave this summer as Arteta has clearly made his mind up on them. If Torreira can head to Atletico Madrid and Arsenal get Partey, that is a very good deal for all concerned.

Alex Telles to Manchester United progressing

It appears the 3-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace may have accelerated Manchester United’s transfer business ahead of the final weeks of the window. Who’d have thought!?

Alex Telles to Manchester United is at an ‘advanced stage’ according to The Guardian, as the Brazilian left back has a release clause of $47 million. The 27-year-old has been a goalscoring machine for FC Porto in recent seasons and his signing will surely see him as Man United’s first-choice left back with Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams competing for his spot.

Telles has long been linked with United and he offers a goalscoring threat from left back. After missing out on Sergio Reguilon, who moved to Tottenham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer clearly wants to upgrade his left flank and Telles will be perfect on the left in both a 4-2-3-1 and a 3-4-3 system.

With plenty of focus on Jadon Sancho, Man United don’t seem to need that much help in attack but defensively they continue to make silly errors and adding a center back as well as a left back seems to remain a priority for Solskjaer.

Transfer news: Bayern accuses Man Utd, Liverpool of Thiago ‘blackmail’

Manchester United is linked with two stars from two different leagues, one in a promising way and the other a non-flattering light.

The latter comes from combustible Bayern big man Uli Hoeness, who claims that both United and Liverpool are acting unsavory when it comes to their pursuit of Thiago Alcantara.

Telles to Manchester United

Porto has reportedly lowered its asking price for highly-sought left back Alex Telles, previously said to interest Chelsea as well as United.

The Portuguese powers want to cash in on Telles before he enters the final year of his deal and has previously been asking around $35 million.

Now it looks like $24 million will be deemed acceptable, and that should have Manchester United very happy.

This is also probably boosted by some big teams either being set at left back or buying at the position this year (Chelsea buying Ben Chilwell, Liverpool adding depth in Kostas Tsimikas). Plus Nicolas Tagliafico is reportedly still on the market.

Could this snap Man City or Spurs to attention? Maybe!

United has also been linked with Sergio Reguillon, but a weekend report claims that the Red Devils will not include a buyback clause and that the player and Real Madrid remain keen on that.

Telles may be the answer, the 27-year-old having won plenty in Turkey and Portugal while looking the part during a past loan to Inter Milan.

Thiago to Manchester United update (Also, Thiago to Liverpool update)

Bayern president Uli Hoeness is not a,verse to making big statements, and he’s lofted some heavy accusations at Liverpool and Manchester United when it comes to Thiago Alcantara.

The Spanish midfielder has been linked with Liverpool for months and Manchester United has also recently entered the conversation regarding the 29-year-old center mid.

And Hoeness doesn’t like that the two Premier League rivals have agreed to the player’s contract demands but are yet to lodge a bid for him (which is fairly rich given the Leroy Sane and Callum Hudson-Odoi sagas, but that’s Hoeness).

From Sport.de:

“Apparently he is in agreement with Liverpool and Manchester United. The clubs have not yet approached Bayern. It’s not a style, they want to blackmail us. But even if Thiago leaves, Kimmich, Goretzka and Müller will play. Then we have Tolisso, who was thrown back two years due to injuries.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has talked about the financial peril of the times for clubs not backed by “oligarchs and countries” — Frank Lampard verbally smirked — but if the $35 million price tag is what Bayern is asking, well, that’s pretty reasonable given his skill set and accomplishments.

It stings to side with Hoeness but perhaps he’s right to want action now rather than later. The blackmail line is a bit much, though.

Let’s dig in on the latest transfer news in the Premier League.

Sergio Reguilon to Arsenal over Manchester United

Starting in north London, it is believed that Sergio Reguilon to Arsenal could happen, as the Gunners are battling Manchester United and Sevilla to sign the Spanish left back on a permanent basis.

According to our partners at Sky Sports, Reguilon to Arsenal is now a possibility but Real Madrid want a buy-back clause in any deal due to the huge potential of the talented left back. Real currently have Marcelo and Ferland Mendy as their left back options.

Reguilon, 23, was a star on loan at Sevilla in 2019-20 but is not needed at Real Madrid and is available for transfer. Reguilon was previously linked with Chelsea but they signed Ben Chilwell instead, and although Man United have shown interest in the attacking full back, it is believed Arsenal are also in the hunt for the Spanish international.

Where would Reguilon fit in at Arsenal? With Ainsley-Maitland Niles perhaps leaving for Wolves, this could be a good replacement at left wing back. Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka are Mikel Arteta’s other options at left back and given Tierney’s form during the second half of last season, spending their limited transfer cash on Reguilon would be a strange one for Arsenal.

Likewise, Reguilon to Man United would be a little strange as Luke Shaw and Brandon Williams occupy those areas but Reguilon would be an upgrade on them both. Watch this space.

Alex Telles to Manchester United

It seems like United do have another left back option lined up, though, as Alex Telles to Manchester United is in the works.

A report from Portuguese outlet A Bola says that Telles’ agent has traveled to speak with Man United who want to sign the FC Porto and Brazilian full back. The talented left back has under a year left on his contract and has consistently been one of the best defenders in Portugal in recent seasons.

Telles, 27, was also a target for Chelsea earlier in the transfer window but it appears Man United will secure the deal for the Brazilian defender who will push Shaw and Williams at left back, while give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more options when he wants to play a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3.

He is an attacking full back who scored 11 goals and added eight assists last season and United do need to add a bit more experience to their defensive unit. Given the amount of money they’ve spent in recent windows, a cut-price deal for Telles would be a shrewd move.

Transfer news: Milik to Arsenal; Telles to Chelsea

In the latest transfer Alex Telles is the latest left back linked with a move to Chelsea, while Arsenal are reportedly the favorites to sign striker Arkadiusz Milik.

[ VIDEO: Premier League highlights ]

Starting in north London, Arsenal continue to be linked with a host of attacking players ahead of the upcoming transfer window and Arkadiusz Milik is the latest.

The Napoli and Poland star, 26, has long been linked with a move away from the Stadio San Paolo and given the fact that the Naples club look unlikely to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season, the likes of Milik, Kalidou Koulibaly and a few others may have to move on to offset the huge loss of funds.

Per the report Italian outlet Repubblica, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is keen to offload Milik and would rather sell him to Arsenal than another Serie A rival, as Juventus are reportedly interested too. Napoli could lower their asking price for Milik, who is out of contract next summer, if a Premier League club emerges as a genuine contender to sign him.

The sticking point for the Gunners? Milik would cost $45 million and Mikel Arteta’s side don’t seem to have significant transfer funds as they’ve been linked with plenty of loan and swap deals ahead of the summer window.

That said, if Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leaves this summer (he has just one year left on his contract) and Alexandre Lacazette is also sold and sent to Atletico Madrid in a swap deal for Thomas Lemar, Arteta will have some extra cash a huge drop in his wage bill to work with.

Milik, on paper, would seem to suit the Premier League well. He reminds me of Edin Dzeko as he can hold the ball up, is powerful in the air and despite his horrendous luck with injuries he is still extremely mobile and can lead the line. Arteta seems pretty happy with young strikers Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah who he used often in central roles before the suspension in March but Milik has plenty of experience and would be a focal point to their attack.

Moving to west London, Chelsea are reportedly want to buy Telles from FC Porto but face stiff competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the Brazilian full back.

According to Le 10 Sport in France, Chelsea and PSG will battle it out for the Porto left back and they claim that Chelsea have been tracking Telles for some time and have a jump start on other clubs. He is only contract to Porto until the summer of 2021, so there’s a cut-price deal to be made there.

Telles, 27, made his debut for Brazil last year and after starting his career in his homeland he’s played for Galatasaray, Inter Milan on loan and now Porto for the last four seasons. He is considered as one of the best full backs playing in Portugal and has chipped in with 21 goals in 183 appearances in all competitions for Porto.

As we’ve mentioned before, Chelsea need a more solid left back defensively but Frank Lampard still has an attacking playing style and therefore Telles seems like a very good fit. Emerson Palmeri is a little too defensive, while Marcos Alonso is too attack-minded and left back is an area where the Blues clearly want to strengthen in the upcoming transfer window. They’ve been linked with Nicolas Tagliafico and others and as clubs start to circle across Europe for Telles, Chelsea’s intentions will perhaps become clearer in the weeks ahead.
