For a rare occasion, Paris Saint-Germain may be the club to cash a big check from a transfer sale.

The Sunday Express says Chelsea is ready to bid approximately $64 million to bring Edinson Cavani to Stamford Bridge, and may make another big move like last week’s addition of Christian Pulisic.

Maurizio Sarri is building for this year as well as the long-term according to the report, which claims that Chelsea will sell 6-7 players during the January window in addition to buying Nicola Barella and loaning him back to Cagliari for the rest of the season.

Barella, 22 next month, was slapped with a $57 million price tag this time last season and has seen his value rise while earning his first four senior caps for Italy.

Cesc Fabregas should leave soon after Saturday’s emotional (apparent) farewell to Stamford Bridge, and Alvaro Morata could also leave should Cavani arrive in London.

If all three moves happen, Chelsea’s January outlay is likely to rise above $200 million.

Newcastle owner Mike Ashley’s notoriously-tight purse strings may have the Magpies aiming for a pair of loan moves this month.

Former Spurs man Clinton N'Jie is said to be available from Marseille and young French full back Faitout Maouassa is the other Express-reported target.

The 25-year-old N’Jie has a goal this season for Marseille, and the center forward did not score in an ancillary role at Spurs over 14 matches. Crystal Palace is also said to want N’Jie.

Maouassa, 20, reportedly shot down a $10 million Newcastle bid for the player, with the Magpies hoping a loan would better fit the bill. The player spent the first half of the season on loan inside of Ligue 1.

Tottenham Hotspur announce deal for striker Clinton Njie

Tottenham Hotspur have signed Cameroon international forward Clinton Njie.

Spurs announced the arrival of the 22-year-old from Lyon on Saturday on a five-year deal, pending a work permit and international clearance.

That means that Njie will not be able to help out Mauricio Pochettino’s side against Stoke City at White Hart Lane (Watch live, 10 a.m. ET on NBCSN and online via Live Extra) on Saturday, but looking ahead he will provide Harry Kane will plenty of support.

Njie is described by Spurs as being a player “who can play as a center forward or from either the left or right wing,” and given the departure of Roberto Soldado to Villarreal on Friday, the north London club have acted fast to bolster their forward line.

Whether or not Njie will get plenty of minutes right away remains to be seen, but his arrival does cast some doubt over the futures of wide players such as Andros Townsend and Aaron Lennon.

Speaking to Spurs’ official website and after signing on his 22nd birthday, the man whose nickname is “Clint” was delighted to arrive in the PL:

“I‘m very happy to join Tottenham, such a big club in England,” Njie said. “I’m still young, still growing up and it’s a big challenge – the Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world. The club is ambitious and I’m ready to give my best to help the club achieve its aims.

The forward showed plenty of promise for Lyon last season, as he scored eight times in 33 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit who finished in the France’s top-flight. Njie has also scored six times in 11 appearances for the Indomitable Lions.

So, the last time Spurs had an attacking player called Clint it didn’t quite work out. Remember that, Spurs fans?

With a year in France’s top-flight under his belt and plenty to prove, Pochettino will be hoping Njie can ease the burden on Kane this season and beyond.

Friday’s Transfer Rumor Roundup: Swiss captain to Leicester, more Muller to Manchester links

Aston Villa have landed a Barcelona wantaway, while a USMNT back is headed for London. So what’s the next bit of truth to come from the transfer rumor mill?

It’s been shot down again and again, but rumors of a Thomas Muller to Manchester United move continue to spill out of Germany. This time it’s Kicker saying the Red Devils are trying to tempt Bayern Munich with a $75 million offer for one of Germany’s World Cup heroes. The move would make even more sense than adding Pedro from Barcelona, as it could free up Wayne Rooney and ease the captain’s burden during the busy UEFA Champions League and Cup seasons.

Swiss veteran Gokhan Inler be en route to the Premier League. Sky Sports says the Napoli man may be another Serie A signing for the club that famously added Esteban Cambiasso last season. Inler, 31, is the captain of the Swiss national team and manned the midfield in all four of their matches at the 2014 World Cup. Claudio Ranieiri would certainly welcome the mid’s gusto.

Has Sunderland’s embarrassing opening day prodded their front office into further action? Offense wasn’t the Black Cats problem in a 4-2 loss to Leicester City, but Fabio Borini is being pegged as more likely to leave Liverpool for the Stadium of Light than stick around. It would be a loan, and Sky Sports says Adnan Januzaj is still weighing the option to make a similar move.

Newcastle United may be set to send veteran back Mike Williamson down South in search of a younger, better model. Williamson has fallen down the Magpies’ depth chart with the arrival of Chancel Mbemba, and Brighton & Hove Albion back Lewis Dunk may be had in exchange for the veteran and about $7.5 million. Dunk’s a towering 24-year-old back, and Brighton boss Chris Hughton knows plenty about “Willo” from his days at St. James Park.

Roma is going to land talented left back Lucas Digne from Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports in Le Parisien, while i Lupi is also interested in Liverpool center back Mamadou Sakho if you’re to believe Foot Mercato.

It looks like Clinton N’Jie could be having a medical at White Hart Lane, as the Lyon striker hopes to boost Spurs’ forward ranks.

William Carvalho was linked with Manchester United and Arsenal for a few years, but now it seems the Sporting Lisbon man could be on the way to Real Madrid, according to Spanish publication AS.

Sky Sport says Hibernian’s midfield star Scott Allan could be making a big move to Celtic after undergoing a medical at the Scottish powers.
