Sardinian side Cagliari had an interesting Serie A travel day to Milan in that there was a chance it might not happen at all.
The Italians were trapped inside their training ground by over 100 protestors who were not challenging Cagliari’s on-field performances, but wanted the 15th place side to cancel their match at AC Milan in solidarity with them over high milk prices.

Part of a nation-wide protest which sees people kick over milk on the road, protestors would only let Cagliari’s players leave for Sunday’s match at AC Milan via compromise.
That compromise saw three Cagliari players join in the protest. From Football-Italia.net:
The team was only allowed to leave after several players, including Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Deiola and Joao Pedro, were filmed kicking over milk pails in a gesture of solidarity.
This a story we didn’t expect at the start of the Matchday.
CAGLIARI, Sardinia (AP) Cagliari forward Joao Pedro has been issued a four-match ban for simulation and stamping on Fiorentina’s Federico Chiesa.
Joao Pedro was sent off in stoppage time of Cagliari’s 1-0 defeat to Fiorentina on Friday in Serie A after stomping on Chiesa’s foot, and was given a three-match ban for that incident.

The Brazilian was banned for another match because he received his fifth yellow card of the season for diving in the penalty area.
The 25-year-old Joao Pedro will miss Cagliari’s league matches against Atalanta, Juventus, AC Milan, and Crotone.
Cagliari is 16th in the 20-team league, two points above the relegation zone.
LA Galaxy’s roster reformation continues with the addition of Joao Pedro, a day after formalizing a deal with USMNT midfielder Jermaine Jones.
The 23-year-old center midfielder was with Vitoria Guimaraes in Portugal’s top flight, and comes to the club as a “Special Discovery Player” with Targeted Allocation Money.

Pedro has a goal in 17 appearances this season, as Vitoria Guimaraes sits fifth in the Primeira Liga.
“Joao is an extremely talented midfielder who has experience playing at a high level in Portugal,” said Galaxy general manager Peter Vagenas in a written statement released by the club.
“He is only 23 years old and has the best years of his career front of him. We identified him as a top target this offseason and we think he can immediately help strengthen our midfield. We look forward to welcoming Joao to Los Angeles as we continue to prepare for the upcoming season.”
Pedro was a regular for Vitoria Guimaraes but is far from a certainty to star for the Galaxy. We do know that Vagenas has probably done his research as to whether Pedro fits with Jermaine Jones.
