This video’s worth your time for Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa’s no-look rainbow-esque pass to Moussa Sissoko in Newcastle’s 1-0 loss to Fulham, but you also get a slick turn from an Evertonian, nifty footwork from Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
And of course, Fabian Delph…
It’s time for the Premier League’s Showboats of Round 12…
Philippe Coutinho is far and away one of the stars of the show. After juggling around Seamus Coleman in insidious fashion, the Liverpool playmaker later pulled a cutback so dirty it left two Toffees frozen in front of the 18.
Aaron Lennon gives a spot of sunshine during Spurs massive loss against Manchester City with some 1v1 moves so silly he appeared to fool himself. Kyle Walker provides a nifty no-look defending touch later for Tottenham before Alvaro Negredo shows us why City won by six with a slick cut left before a strong shot right.
Yoan Gouffran of Newcastle’s possession spell against Norwich City included a nutmeg whilst turning.
And Per Mertesacker deals with an ambitious slide tackle in with style.
Matchweek 8 of the Premier League saw some sensational bits of skill from all the usual customers – Sergio Aguero, Mesut Ozil, Stephane Sessegnon, Eden Hazard, Jack Wilshere and Juan Mata.
There were also moments of fantastic imagination – like Jack Wilshere’s pinball goal, Ricardo Vaz Te’s overhead shot and Alvaro Negredo’s no look dummy that set Aguero free.
But one man put together a consistent display of artistry that outshined all others – Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman’s dazzling footskills were unleashed throughout the 90 minutes, constantly making the Norwich City defense look like mannequins.
Everyone will remember his goal that cut up the Canaries defense, leaving four men clutching at the turf, but how about his toying of Russell Martin and Roberto Snodgrass as he jinked down the left wing before pulling a Maradona spin into a back heel pass to Ozil?
That was something special.
The 22 year old unleashed bags of tricks throughout the match ensuring that when pundits talk about player of the year candidates in the Premier League, the name ‘Ramsey’ stays atop the list.
